Change The World Wednesday

My friend Cyndi at Reduce Footprints is a huge Green activist. She dedicates her blog to that cause trying to motivate all the rest of us to care, that's first & foremost, and to take action in saving this planet in small manageable acts.
In August of last year Cyndi started a blog post series called "Change The World Wednesday". You can read the rules here, but the basic gist of it is that every week she presents an action that if followed, even if just for that one week, that is another small step towards making this world just a little greener.

She Writes:
What if a whole lot of people did the same "green" activity during the same time period? Would we have a positive impact on the environment? I believe we would! That's the simple concept behind Change The World Wednesdays (CTWW). Each week a new challenge will be posted, here on Reduce Footprints ... something which is easy to do and when done "en masse" will have a positive effect on the earth. It's the idea that when a lot of little actions are joined together ... the impact can be huge. We hope to take a huge step towards saving the earth.

This Wednesday Cyndi called out for everyone to only use reusable mugs & glasses. At home that's an easy one, but outside presents a challenge. I say you can do the same when you go out, as you do at home. Carry your own reusable water bottle, take your own mug to the coffee place, or simply take a ten minute break and stay for coffee instead of taking it To Go in a paper cup.
Here are a few ideas to help you with this "challenge"...
  • SIGG makes reusable bottles that are made from a highly durable aluminum material, and their inside liners are taste & scent neutral and they reduce chances for bacteria buildup (unlike the plastic bottles...). They can be used for any beverage, hot or cold. Check them out here
  • Starbucks will give you a discount every time you bring your own reusable mug. Read more here
  • REI makes water bottle that are BPA-Free. You can buy them here
  • Thermos brand has a real cool technology that keeps your coffee real warm, and your water real cool. See it here
Hope that helps and motivates at least one more person to do Green ;)

Wow ... thank you for passing on the "green" word and also for your brilliant suggestions. I didn't know that Starbucks will give a discount if we use our own mugs. How great is that! :)

Thanks, again!

That's a nice concept. Going to try it!! I try to do this most of the time but I'm going to try to do it ALL of the time now.
