i love cupcakes

Last week my someone and I had a craving for something sweet. He was in the mood for some cupcakes. I remembered we passed by a new cupcakes place on Ben Yehuda street (Tel Aviv) just a few weeks ago, and so we hopped on the bike to find it. This little shop is called  i love cupcakes and I have to say, it's absolutely heaven on earth! We fell in love twice! Once when we stepped inside the shop that is designed so pretty and inviting, filled with cupcakes, pretty boxes, and love notes on the walls. Then we fell in love once more when we got home and actually took a bite of these amazing little cakes of wonder!

Of course I couldn't help myself, I had to snap some photos before we dived, mouth first, into this box of pleasure :)

Weekend Favorites- Dresses

I was going to post this last week but things got in the way... So here's the original post as it was prepared last Sunday morning:

I can't tell you how happy I am it's summer! I love summer! When everyone else complains about how hot or humid it is, I am exhilarated by the fact it is so warm. I love the sun, and the warm feeling on my skin, and I love the fact that I can finally bare some skin, wearing shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, skirts, and my favorite (I'm a girly girl...)- dresses!

Although my weekend has been almost completely work at the restaurant (as are all my weekends lately...), I managed to squeeze in some me & Etsy time last night while my someone was at his parents watching The Champion League Final (I am really not into soccer...). I searched for dresses and found so many pretty options, I felt I had to share some with you. I used to do this series of Weekend Favorites posts in the begining of this blog. I figured it would be great to do another one now

Clouds

This week on You See i See Laura and I had to shoot something to do with "clouds". Since it's summer time here in Israel, most days you're lucky if you see a single cloud in the sky, so I decided to create my own clouds... With the assistance of my amazing someone, I came up with this

I had the post all ready to go, and was quite happy with my fake clouds result... Until Sunday night... My someone and I were spending a quiet evening at home when we suddenly noticed the sky had turned magical. We stepped out onto our balcony and were mesmerized by what the sunset has created in the sky. It took me a second to grasp myself before grabbing my camera and shooting away. Here are some of the images I got

Oodles of candy

If you follow my blog, then you know I have another blog I maintain called You See i See. It's purely a photo blog, and it's a collaboration between the lovely Laura and myself. Each week, on Tuesday, we put on display two photos- One from her, and one from me, side by side. The thing in common between the two images is the subject, the theme of the photo. Those "themes" were predetermined by our blog readers and combined into one big list. And by big, I mean 52 items to complete a full years worth of weeks.
We've had some interesting themes so far, and our creative juices have been running at full pace, but I must admit that this week's theme has been more of a challenge than the preceding weeks' themes. At least for me it was.
Week Nine - Little Children's Dreams
I kept staring at the screen last week after posting week eight's post, and gearing my brains for the next photoshoot. Seriously Amie, were you trying to trick us, or just challenge the hell out of us...? (Kidding of course). For the life of me,  I couldn't come up with a photographic idea, that was interesting, different, somewhat unexpected, that of course, conveys the subject. Even brain-storming with my friends didn't really help. And then I thought about candy! Oodles, heaps, loads of candy! Wouldn't that be a child's dream...? Well, my someone thought so (and he's a child at heart). I remembered there was this somewhat new candy shop on Sheinkin that is designed like a pharmaceutical shop- white light all around, and the candy's displayed in glass tanks on the walls. I thought it would be the perfect place to photograph my idea, but when I got to the place, the shop's owner wouldn't allow me to shoot inside the shop... So plan B! I headed over to my someone's favorite candy supply shop, which is a shop that's more like a completely packed up, floor to ceiling, little warehouse, where you can find just about anything your heart (or should I say 'sweet tooth') desires. I took my someone along with me, and he of course chose candy by flavor, while I chose candy that would photograph well, and had the colors I was looking for. We ended up really buying oodles of candy!!
Next we headed to a small home decor shop we had found a while back on Nahalat Binyamin, where we got some jars to fill up with all that candy.
We had a blast filling the jars up, of course snacking on some candy while doing that... At the end I grabbed my camera and started shooting away. Here's a few for you to see...

I'm mad about...

Just a few things I am mad about. Sometimes, now, always

My brand new folding bike! I had to get me a new pair after my old Beach Cruisers got stolen from inside our apartment building. I decided that if I was going to buy a new pair, it would have to be a size I can fit inside our apartment. I found the perfect bike! And they even have a cool name- Tel Aviv Vision :)

Cooking dinner in our kitchen! It's so much bigger than the one we had before, and there's enough counter space to do all the prep on. Plus, it's a kitchen big enough for my someone to cook right along with me :)

Leaving love notes for my someone on our vintage type writer.... and receiving some from him too  :)

BTW, that's Hebrew letters typewriter...

AND HIM- my amazing someone by my side. My other half. My ray of sunshine. My Shay :)

Just a little busy

Sorry I've been absent for almost a week... It's been a little busy around here with work, photography, attending friends' weddings, birthdays, editing, album designing, and trying also to catch up on some much needed R&R

The Slope Park

Did I mention before that my someones and mine's apartment is right by the beach...?
Well, we are only a few minutes walk from the beach, from Yafo (Jaffa), the port, and a few great parks on the waters edge. One of those parks, a brand new one, is called The Slope Park, and it is located just south of Yafo's old port. My someone discovered it about a week ago when he went for a bike ride, and then a few days ago he took me over there as well. We were lucky to catch it just 2 days before it's grand opening, as we had the whole entire park for ourselves :)

The Blue Line

A couple of weeks ago my someone and I went down to the Yafo flea market looking for the perfect dining table. We were looking for a vintage piece, but we had a hard time finding something that fits our specific space. You see, our living-room and kitchen are both in one big space, and we wanted something that will not crowed up that space, and could also act up as a divider for the two areas. We have some limitations of space as we have a big coach and we also have a big fridge that we needed to account for space needed for the fridge's door to open wide. Lucky for us we stumbled upon the perfect table, with the perfect dimensions, and to top it all, it's a vintage piece! (it's got the stickers on the bottom to prove it!). The top of the table was the original wood finish, and we had it custom covered with light blue Formica and a white stripe on the top, about a third of the width of the table. (kinda' like the old long-boards...). When we brought it home it looked a bit odd in it's new place, and we felt we needed to do something more to accentuate the differentiation between the kitchen and the living-room. The white stripe is what gave us the answer. We decided to paint a light blue stripe on the wall and ceiling in the same location of the white stripe. We carried the stripe all the way from the bottom to the top, and then all the way on the ceiling to the opposite side.

It wasn't an easy task, as we had to measure all the way through on the ceiling and make sure our line is straight and that it maintains the same width all the way through. Add to that the fact that we are both two midgets, and we only had a 3-step ladder with ceilings that are about 260 cm high (!!)

My someone did the measuring and taping, and I did the painting, and if I can say so myself, I think we did a fine job! What do you think...?
